Camilla Watson nasceu em Oxford, no Reino Unido, em 1967 e vive actualmente no bairro típico da Mouraria, em Lisboa, onde instalou o seu atelier.

Começou a sua carreira no teatro como fotógrafa de cena, mas nos últimos anos tem trabalhado em retrato e reportagem junto de comunidades urbanas com as quais se relaciona em termos afectivos. Resumindo, gosta de fotografar pessoas e de experimentar suportes diferentes para as suas fotografias (gesso, madeira, azulejo...), cruzando-as com as artes plásticas. Nas suas criações preocupa-se em transmitir uma mensagem de esperança de acordo com o seu olhar positivo e fraterno sobre a condição humana.

I was born in the UK in 1967. I began my career photographing theatre, moving later to portraiture and then reportage. I am interested in exhbits that can take place outside in open spaces that are in the space of the communities that I am photographing. Because of this I have been experimenting printing onto different surfaces - such as walls, wood and mosaics. I have been living in Lisbon for nearly 4 years, working from my studio in an old part of the city called 'Mouraria'. My photographs are always of people. It is the human spirit that interests me. I am a positive person and I like to think that my images always show hope.
