The Christian veneration to the images isn´t opposite to the First Commandment, which forbids idolatry, because «the honour you serve to an image is in fact directed to the original model.» (St. Basílio).

Many families, specially from the east, keep the costume of praying daily in front of these icons, believing in its advantages: «they have powers that Our Lord has given to them and are examples of the faith that has costed them many sacrifices», people told me.

They pray to all saints: to Saint Bárbara when it thunders, to Saint Expedito for the haste cures, to St. Judas Tadeu for the desperate causes…
